So you've hit the 'golden years,' now what?
So you're ready to retire, or may be just work less, and don't want to think about health insurance any longer. You complete your enrollment process with Medicare, only to find there are more decisions to make?
Do you want a Medicare Supplement? Or a Medicare Advantage HMO, regional PPO or Private Fee for Service plan? (Don't worry about the last one, they are going by the wayside.) And what about Part D drug coverage?
"Medicare" doesn't cover everything. Part A, which pretty much everyone in the US qualifies for if they've worked long enough covers mainly hospitalization. Part B covers doctor visits and pretty much services categorized as outpatient, but only 80%. You also have to specifically enroll for it and you pay for it. And there's no drug coverage with basic Medicare, that's why you need to buy Part D drug coverage. Depending of course on whether you have a Supplement or one of the Medicare Advantage plans. And who do you get it from?
